Virtual Classes - FAQ

You can now attend classes remotely, and stay connected to the SUTRA community while maintaining social distance. We are happy to be part of your wellness routine, even when you can't come in to the studio.

You might have some questions about this new side of SUTRA. We've included some info below, to help you stay connected.

Will virtual classes continue to be offered after social distancing restrictions ease up?

We’re doing some technical testing, to create for virtual classes from the studio, once we’re able to re-open safely.  We’re also exploring the possibility of “hybrid” classes, where we would allow a smaller group of people in the studio AND the option to participate virtually, in real time.

I signed up for class, but didn't get a link. HELP!

Assuming you’ve got an active email address on file with us, FitGrid will send you the link before class titled “FITGRID x SUTRA STUDIO”.

If you don’t see it, check your spam / bulk mail folder, as well as the “Social” and “Promotions” tabs in your inbox, as the link could have gotten buried on your end.

How will the audio/music work? Will there be music?

For some classes, the music will be included in the audio that comes through your computer (as well as the teacher’s voice.)

For other classes, a Spotify playlist will be prepared for class, and a link will be provided.  In this case, you’ll need to run Spotify from your own device, if you’d like to opt in for music.

More info on Spotify here.  The Premium plan is ideal, because there will be no interruptions for ads.  There’s a free plan too, but you will get some ads between songs.

Do I have to share my camera?

You are an essential part of the SUTRA community, and we would love to see you!  (Yes, even if your house is messy.)

We do encourage you to make this as close as possible to an in-person experience, for the best engagement — plus sharing your camera will allow the teacher to check in on you, and offer virtual assists.

If you are uncomfortable sharing your camera though, we understand.

Can I join the class after it begins?

Just like regular classes, we want to avoid disruptions once we get started.  Please try to arrive 10 minutes before class, to ensure a smooth start.

We’ll do our best to accommodate late arrivals, but can’t always admit people once class has begun.

If I sign up for class, can more than one person practice with me?

Please make sure everyone who is practicing has registered for the class.  Assuming they have, you can absolutely share a screen!

How will the tech work?

Virtual classes will run through Zoom, and you can run it on just about any internet-enabled device.  When you click the link to join class, you’ll be guided in the right direction, and SUTRA staff will be there to help, both vocally and through the chat window.

Once you’re connected, you’ll probably see a prompt about audio, and you probably want to “Use Internet Audio,” which just means that you want sound to come through the app.  There are backup options to get audio through the phone, too.

You’ll need to click the camera icon to share your video, so we can see your face!

You’ll be muted automatically during class, so don’t worry; you don’t need to be quiet.

In fact, if you’ve got an option to connect your device to louder speakers, and you think that would be fun, you should definitely do it!

My connection is super choppy. How can I fix it?

Make sure you’re connected to the best wireless signal possible.  If you’re on a shared wi-fi network, ask your housemates to take a break from the bandwidth-heavy stuff (Netflix, etc.) while you crush some yoga.

How can I support the SUTRA community during this strange time?

Stay active in the SUTRA community!  Practice, engage, and participate — we wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you.

Purchase, renew, or upgrade your memberships, keep registering for classes, and buy some retail if you can!

Also, please keep spreading the word — we’re excited to see our community thrive and grow, even through difficult times.

I'd like to practice at a time that's not offered. Can we make that happen?

Did you know that we have a library of pre-recorded classes?  The library is available to all monthly unlimited members, and allows them to practice whenever they want.

Our live schedule does change too, to accommodate everyone as best we can.  If there’s a time that you think people would like to practice, please let us know!
